There seems to be no regular holiday.
Nice station, unfortunately in the midst of not so good stuff. "Massage" Parlors everywhere, streetwalkers galore, and rush hour is a horror show.,
A small JR station with limited facilities but convenient to access the JR Yamanote line, and much quicker from entrance to platform than at Shinjuku to the south! Good view of the colourful street to the east and west from the raised platform. Surrounded by the local Korea town neighbourhood.
Good
If you are into Korean TV shows or Korean music, the district around this station will be heaven for you. When you exit the station, turn to the right, walk under the bridge and you are in Tokyo's Korean Town "Shinokubo". They have a lot of merchandise, CDs, posters and of course Korean food to offer. Most of the people working in this district are actually Korean, so if you happen to speak the language here is the place to try your conversational skills in Korean.
Very small station
Small station that can be extremely busy. Has only one exit/entry that goes directly to the street with barriers separating you from street traffic. This can create a severe backlog of people unable to exit the station while trains still offload people on the platform.
Very packed and unfinished buildings
Station for Korea town in Tokyo. Lots of Korean restaurants around and food stores. BBQ anyone?
Goodlike
Small but crowded
not wheelchair friendly
Usually crowded and usually not clean when compared to other Japanese stations. Provides access to asian food stores.
Small station in the middle of Korean Town in Japan. Kpop culture, CD, souvenir everywhere.
Small but quite busy station, located in the middle of Tokyo's Korean town. This is an open-air station. Many people park their bicycles under the railway bridge besides, to find a warning sticker later, but the bicycles are not removed by authorities.
Clear from Shinjuku, This is a nice station.
One of the busiest places of Japan.
Good area for Asian food shopping.
weird Korean town .... You can see lots of Japanese youngster who are fond of K-Pop ..... if you want to taste some spicy Korean food at Tokyo , Shin-okubo station is the best place. This place is also named as Korean town
While the area is famous for shopping, the station on the other hand is horrible. Firstly, it's small compared to other JR stations. Secondly, there are no escalators and even elevators for people with disabilities or baby car. Finally, it's always busy, and the entrance are always packed with so many people standing near the entrance, blocking others to go in/out of the station.
Small but station but very busy all the time until let night
Good
Small and busy station
Weird area. Korea town.
Small and non wheelchair accessible station due to lack of lifts. Avoid unless you have no other choice. That being said, at least it is manageable in terms of size compared to Shinjuku.
Tokyo's Koreatown with a large international community of several other ethnicities. This place is a paradise for people craving to eat authentic Korean food besides great Chinese, Vietnamese and other Southeast Asian delicacies around Tokyo. Make sure to visit the large Donkiho-ten store nearby.
Tokyo's bustling Koreatown with a lot of great Korean BBQ places and nice places to eat out. You can also easily walk to Kabukicho and Shinjuku from here.
Convenient
Too small station when the rush hour people were stuck on the staircase and queue for excit almost 20-30 mins.
Popular for Korean food. If you are looking for Indian spices for cooking there is lots of Indian grocery store also available around this area. Popular money transfer company also located around this location. Spicy food lovers this is your place.
Bad station ever! very small but so crowded. i need 20 minutes to go out from the platform.
Little Kathmandu
Weird area! :)Korea town.
I am a massive kpop fan and this place is perfect for me! Go during a weekday because my god it gets busy in a Saturday! Lots of bts merch to go around! I spent all day here and walked the street a few times!
Korea town. Lots of Korean stuff.
It have only 1 line and can't transfer to anywhere if you use yamanote lineAlso only 1 near station which also have 1 lineNot good for visitor who travel by train
It's a small train station for the yamanote line
there's no lift for parents who bring baby pram or for passengers who bring suitcases.. really bad.. but they have a yoshinoya just opposite the station =)
The station itself has nothing special. However, this station is near a shopping district so called Korean town with a lot of 'Kpop stores' and also Korean cosmetic, a lot of restaurant which specialized in Korean foods available.
Regular station. Small.
Love Korea town!
Tokyo’s own Korea Town, located next to Shinjuku district- walking distance but if going by train then it’s Shin Okubo stop.Lively area with lots of Korean Shops, restaurants n entertainment. Lovely Korean food - Bibimbap, Barbeque, fried chicken, kimchi, soups n of course Soju! You can also get plenty of Korean related souvenirs- Kpop, T shirts etc! It feels like a mini Myungdong! Area is quite brightly lit but in some areas can be quite shady! There is a police presence- Koban (police post) n we did see some foot patrols. Generally an entertainment area with some izakayas n pubs. Interesting change if u wish to have one after an extended stay in Tokyo.
2002 - 2005
Beautiful..peaceful
Great base to start exploring Tokyo!
A station with few transfer lines on the Yamanote Line. The number of passengers is smaller than that of other stations. The platform is on the intersection of Okubo-dori and the stairs are near Takadanobaba. It is also a sacred place for the Korean wave boom, and when you get off the station, you can see the scenery full of Hangul and so on. The users are multinational.
Shin Okubo Station is very small, with no elevator or escalator at all. In Japan, people often see each other at the station, so the scenery in front of the station is always crowded and bustling, especially in small stations like this.
Nice view
I love this town ♥
Good Station.
Small JR train station with only one exit so might be crowded during rush hour. Many store and restaurant around this station and also consider as small Korean town in Tokyo. You will find many foreigner especially Korean and Chinese around here.
